Yep, sure did. I had one person sign my 1974 yearbook: "We are all going to die!" Thanks Watchtower.

Did you witness at school?
by NomadSoul ini grew up being a witness.
i remember in elementary and somewhat in middle school i used to be really outspoken about being a witness.
i even had my own study with a classmate, which thankfully he lost interest because i was getting tired of it too.. but high school was a different story.

My Father passed away during the night
by jwfacts indad was a great man, great, despite the religion.
he was powerful, tall and intelligent, yet humble and kind.
he was an introvert, and a circuit overseer.

I think your father personifies most JW's these days. They don't take that much to heart any more. They accept it but ignore pounding the details into their heads but will defend it in a kneejerk sort of way. It is good that he didn't cut you off totally and forever. It shows he was the real deal. So glad you got to have him for a father. There's a lot of jerks out there. You'll find your peace with it in time but miss him your whole life. We do what we must.

Lots of Noise About the 'Quiet Beatle'
by leavingwt insinatra referred to 'something' as the "greatest love song ever written" and it's not a bad choice.
the upcoming focus on george includes an exhibit in la next month, a scorcese film and a book by harrison's widow.
besides 'something', my favorite beatles' songs by harrison would be: here comes the sun, while my guitar gently weeps and taxman.. .

George was a Krishna Witness, a captive of a concept as well. His music was lovely and some of my favorites. When you listen to his love songs they are mostly sung to "Krisha". Living in the Material World is one of the most preachy albums there is. We don't hear it as clearly because of our Judeo/Christian leanings but its there. Sometimes it gets in the way. At least 35 percent of his songs are fantastic. The rest are either maudlin or hyper religious and a turn off for me. I loved the public persona of George but really don't know the guy. I think "Looking for My Life" is inspired. It's on the last album he released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBov2x9L3UQ

The organisations love failed! (1 Corinthians 13:8)
by TimothyT intoday, a sister in my congregation told me that she could never abandon me because i have been disfellowshipped.
when she told me that she feels such a powerful driving force telling her she cannot leave me, it really made feel very warm and very close to her.
when i told my dad, he said to me that the force compelling her is the most powerful force in the universe: love!

Remember Tim there are different forms of love in the WT world. The disfellowshiping love is based on principle and is not based on emotion. They feel that you have chosen to disregard Jehovah's law and thus are in need of a sort of "Tough" love. It's warped and not effective but it is considered a form of love by many. You can hold it against them or just move on. They think they are doing good. Sadly so. Live your life and just don't look back. Anyone who walks beside you will tap your shoulder. That's the love you should keep close.

These movies were the spectacles of their day. They hold up well as just that in my opinion. All the songs became standards and are imbedded in our collective musical consciousness, if you grew up with oldies on tv like I did. My dad, 83, loved the old movies and I saw them all. Thanks for your expressions. I did love those movies. We recently got TCM and are in love with it!
